Mike Trout2011 Topps Update #US175 · Gold /2011
The Gold border catches the eye. The serial stamp establishes which Trout Update card you are buying.
There are several ways to collect Trout’s US175. A flagship collector may want the basic card, while a parallel collector may care specifically about the numbered Gold issue. Its connection to the release year is easy to remember because the serial denominator is 2011.
Confirm Gold and the serial stamp
Match 2011 Topps Update, US175, Gold and /2011. Ask for a photograph that shows the full serial stamp, including the numerator. That lets you identify the particular copy if it appears in multiple sales or listings. PSA’s set guide gives separate entries to the base, Diamond Anniversary, Cognac Diamond Anniversary and Gold versions of US175. Color in a photograph is too weak a basis for choosing among them. 1 2
The player behind the card
Trout debuted in July 2011 and played 40 games for the Angels that season. That short first stint is the moment preserved by US175; the gold numbering distinguishes the edition, not a different stage of his career. 3

Check what a numbered copy actually brought
Fanatics Collect sold a Gold /2011 PSA 9 for $1,860 on May 18, 2026, with buyer’s premium included. That result differs substantially from the guide figure. Before choosing an offer, compare newer Gold sales, confirm the serial number and examine the border for corner or edge wear. Record the date and fee basis next to each result so an old reference cannot quietly turn into today’s asking price. 2

Collector questions
Is a particular numerator worth more?
Start with matched sales. A meaningful serial number may matter to an individual collector, but the denominator alone establishes no premium for one copy over another.
What if the seller shows the front only?
Request the reverse and a legible serial stamp. Without them, the precise parallel and copy identity remain open.
