Alex Ovechkin2005-06 Upper Deck #443 · Young Guns base
An Ovechkin Young Guns search can turn up a later signed buyback with the same number.
Upper Deck’s 2005–06 Young Guns class gives a collector a memorable pair in Sidney Crosby #201 and Alex Ovechkin #443. Ovechkin’s standard unsigned card can stand on its own in a Capitals collection. Before comparing prices, check exactly which #443 you have in front of you.
Two names for the same player
Upper Deck calls the player Alex Ovechkin in its historical Young Guns list. PSA catalogs the standard card under Alexander Ovechkin. Try both names in searches, then narrow the results to the 2005–06 Upper Deck issue, #443 and the standard finish. PSA’s registry also lists an HG Glossy #443. That extra variety language changes which examples belong together. 1 2
The player behind the card
Ovechkin finished his rookie season in Washington with 52 goals and 54 assists. Young Guns #443 captures a first-year scorer who set up even more goals than he scored. 6

The signed #443 search trap
Upper Deck’s 2024–25 Extended Series checklist includes an autographed buyback of the 2005–06 #443, listed with a run of eight. A result can therefore match the player, original year and number while representing a different collectible. For an unsigned Young Guns purchase, read the entire title and holder designation and check the actual front for a signature. 3 1
How to collect the pair
If you plan to add Crosby, keep #443 and #201 in separate price histories. You might choose both cards in matching grades for a coordinated display, or spend more on whichever player matters most to you. Compare Ovechkin copies against one another under similar lighting, especially when surface glare makes a corner look white. Ask for an unobstructed view before deciding how much that spot affects the card. 1
