Sidney Crosby

Identification

Match 2005-06 Upper Deck, Sidney Crosby, #201 and the Young Guns - base version together.^{2, 3}

Why This Card Matters

Upper Deck's account of the card recognizes its significance within Young Guns collecting. The original non-autograph rookie can anchor a Pittsburgh or Young Guns collection without borrowing the identity of a later signed version.^{2, 3}

Dated player context — check the evidence deadline when reviewing.

Through October 13, Crosby had four points—two goals and two assists—in seven 2026-27 regular-season games. The NHL's latest listed game was at Chicago on that date.¹

What Has Changed Recently

He scored both goals in the October 13 Chicago game. That single-game contribution is already part of the seven-game season total.¹

Why Collectors Care

A long-running Young Guns collection can place current Crosby games beside the rookie that began its Pittsburgh chapter. The dated early-season record adds interest, while the original card and the signed buyback retain different identities.^{1, 2}

Card and Set Context

Upper Deck later had Crosby sign 10 original rookie copies for insertion into 2011-12 Series One. That separate buyback project does not turn every 2005-06 #201 into an autograph issue. The year of original manufacture and the later distribution story need separate notes.²

Grading and Condition

Inspect both sides and any signature or buyback labeling before comparing condition. For the Young Guns base-card target, readable identity and clear photographs of corners, edges and surface are the useful starting points.^{2, 3}

What Collectors Are Watching

Follow subsequent games and playing time before treating a seven-game start as a season-long pattern. Keep single-game highlights inside, rather than on top of, the cumulative totals.¹
