Leon Draisaitl2014-15 Upper Deck #223 · Young Guns base
Draisaitl’s #223 starts an Edmonton rookie pairing one season before McDavid’s Young Guns.
Leon Draisaitl was Edmonton’s third overall selection in 2014. Upper Deck places his rookie cards in its 2014–15 products. For an Oilers collector building a two-player display, #223 is the earlier card. Connor McDavid’s Young Guns belongs to 2015–16.
Put the seasons in order
Draisaitl’s 2014 Upper Deck entry is #223. Upper Deck’s account of the Oilers rookie class describes his early Edmonton stint and subsequent return to junior hockey. His card belongs to that first chapter. If your search also includes McDavid, save the two years separately. A listing for an Oilers rookie lot can be useful for discovery, but its combined price leaves the individual card values unresolved. 1 2
The player behind the card
Draisaitl’s first Edmonton season was short: nine points in 37 games. The Young Guns is a portrait of those early opportunities, long before the larger totals on his later cards. 4

Compare the grade you would buy
PSA’s recorded 2014 Upper Deck guide lists $225 for Draisaitl #223 in PSA 8 and $425 in PSA 9, with the PSA 10 reference around $1,500. These are guide entries. A collector who wants the card for a team binder may prefer to examine the first two grades. A collector assembling a matching gem-mint display should work from completed PSA 10 sales and examine the actual card images. 2
Inspect an Edmonton pair side by side
Compare Draisaitl copies on their own before trying to match the second card in the display. One example might have stronger centering and another cleaner edges. Set the same viewing size for both photos, then ask for an angled image wherever surface glare obscures the picture. Keep a separate note about the look you prefer. That preference will help you choose McDavid’s copy without borrowing a price from either player. 1 2
